MILIND DEORA LEAVES THE CONGRESS TO JOIN THE SHIV SENA, COMMANDED BY EKNATH SHINDE

Milind Deora Resigns: According to Milind Deora, the 55-year connection his family has with the Congress is coming to an end. According to Jairam Ramesh, the BJP planned the action to draw attention away from Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which is being led by Rahul Gandhi.

Former Lok Sabha MP and senior Congressman Milind Deora announced his resignation from the party on Sunday morning. Along with his followers and a few corporate executives, he will join the Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, at the Maharashtra chief minister's residence at 2:00 pm.

"A major chapter in my political life comes to an end today. My family's 55-year affiliation with the party has come to an end as I have submitted my resignation from the primary membership of @INCIndia. He declared on social media on X, "I am thankful to all leaders, colleagues, and karyakartas for their unwavering support over the years."

Deora had voiced displeasure over the prospect of the Mumbai South seat under the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) seat-sharing arrangements going to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena. Deora has lost two straight Lok Sabha elections to Shiv Sena's Arvind Sawant in 2014 and 2019.

Remaining composed, Deora had instructed his workers and followers to refrain from making any claims to Lok sabha seats till the outcome of the seat-sharing negotiations was achieved. Deora, who was recently appointed joint-treasurer of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), said that his father Murli Deora, who passed away, and his family have served the constituency for more than 40 years.

He was especially displeased with the Sena, led by Uddhav Thackeray, and Aaditya Thackeray for launching the election campaign from Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency and declaring Sawant would run in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the AICC, reported that Deora contacted him on Friday. "He requested that I inform Rahul Gandhi about the removal of his seat.

He expressed his worries. He sent me a message at 2:48 PM. At 3:40 PM, I chatted with him. I asked him to clarify when he met Rahul.

Ramesh feels that the BJP staged Deora's departure in order to deflect attention from Rahul Gandhi's scheduled Sunday start of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

He was acting this whole thing out as a farce. Modi had timed the timing to avoid making news during the yatra. We sensed nothing of his presence. Unlike his father, we won't mourn his passing either, Ramesh added.

Following a meeting with Rajya Sabha MP Praful Patel, there were rumors a few months ago that Deora would join the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) breakaway section led by Ajit Pawar. Subsequently, Deora refuted every rumor and declared his intention to stay in the Congress.
